Family Secrets, starring and written by Sherry Glaser, will return to New York. The show will begin performances on Wednesday, February 22nd at 37 Arts (450 W. 37th Street). The opening night is set for Wednesday, March 8th; the show is scheduled to play 8 weeks only, through Sunday, April 16th.

Presented by Harriet Newman Leve in association with Dan Markley/Mike Skipper, Debbie Bisno, Alexandra Shapiro and Brian Swibel and associate producers Ron Nicynski and Laura Wagner, the show will be performed by Glaser, a multiple award winning solo performance artist, and directed by actor/director Bob Balaban (The Exonerated).

Family Secrets "is an intimate portrait of five members of a Jewish family transplanted from the Bronx to Southern California. Both hilarious and deeply moving, Family Secrets transcends cultural boundaries and remains one of the longest running one-woman shows in Off-Broadway history," according to press notes.

Glaser began her career in improvisation in the early 1980's in San Diego in the company of Whoopi Goldberg, Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy. She created her first solo show, Coping, with her then-husband, Greg Howells. In 1990 she debuted Family Secrets in Los Angeles to acclaim (L.A's Drama Critic's Award and two Ovation Award nominations), toured it nationally (Carbonelle Award of South Florida for Best Actress, San Diego Critics Award for Best Touring Company) and then opened Off Broadway in New York in 1993 (NY Theater World Award for Best Debut, a Drama Desk Award nomination, and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for Best Solo Performance.). Other credits include the theater/dance piece Remember This, In Touch with Reality, Oh My Goddess! and The Adventures of Super Activist Mother. Her weekly "Good News" comedy program is heard on radio station KZYX.

Balaban received a Tony nomination for his performance in 1979's The Inspector General, and has also appeared on Broadway in Plaza Suite, Some of My Best Friends and and Speed-the-Plow and off-Broadway in Romance, The Exonerated, Three Sisters and many more; he also directed Addicted at the Zipper Theatre. An accomplished film actor, he has appeared in A Mighty Wind, Gosford Park, Ghost World, Deconstructing Harry, Waiting for Guffman, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and many more.

The scenic design for Family Secrets is by Rob Odorisio, the lighting design is by John-Paul Szczepanski based on the original design by Brian MacDevitt, and the sound design is by Ryan Powers.
