GIRL BE HEARD (girlbeheard.org), a New York City-based nonprofit theatre company that brings global issues affecting girls center stage by empowering young women to tell their stories, is proud to partner with the Bermuda Conference Women's Missionary Society (BCWMS) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) to bring our award-winning show on gender-based violence to Bermuda for two performances only.

"Girl Be Heard is honored to join forces with the inspiring women missionaries of the AME Church," said Jessica Greer Morris, CEO and Executive Director of Girl Be Heard. "As we continue to face civil rights abuses in our own country and human rights abuses around the world, it is a blessing to know that AME women missionaries are availing themselves in love and service to the communities where they are needed most. This is a groundbreaking trip for our entire cast and crew, never having been to the beautiful island of Bermuda, and even more so for some of our girls who have traveled by plane for the first in their lives thanks to the Women's Missionary Society's generosity."
When the BCWMS' Vice President Dwanita Grant first saw a Girl Be Heard performance at the United Nations she described it as "phenomenal." Thanks to Ms. Grant and the BCWMS, five Girl Be Heard members will represent the girl-empowered theatre company in Bermuda, bringing a performance that will shed light on the obstacles and triumphs that connect women around the world.
This tour will kick off Girl Be Heard's first time in Bermuda with the 2015 Across Borders touring company. Girl Be Heard: Across Borders is a peace-building initiative and cross-cultural exchange that brings transformative performances and workshops to communities around the world.
