About Girl Be Heard: Girl Be Heard is a non-profit theatre company and educational empowerment program that uses theatre to empower young women to become brave, socially conscious leaders by exploring their own challenging circumstances and, through writing and performance, raise awareness of issues affecting women and girls in their communities.
Girl Be Heard creates cutting-edge, cause-related theatre, inspired, written and performed by girls ages 12 to 21, that is thought provoking and demands action. The girls create shows about the issues they care about most, such as bullying, body image, and self-harm, and also takes on issues affecting girls worldwide such as sex trafficking and forced child marriage. Girl Be Heard's company regularly performs our acclaimed shows at the United Nations, TED conferences, and The White House. Girl Be Heard also runs after school programs and regularly holds assemblies in public schools around the city.
Our philosophy is that if a girl can change her own life, she can change the lives of girls everywhere.
