Gingold Theatrical Group's GOLDEN SHAMROCK Gala to Honor Kate Mulgrew & Kenneth Lonergan; Patrick Page to Perform

Gingold Theatrical Group, under the leadership of David Staller, will honor actress and GTG/Project Shaw alum Kate Mulgrew and award-winning playwright Kenneth Lonergan at its annual Golden Shamrock Gala, March 16, at 3 West Club (3 West 51st Street).

The GTG Golden Shamrock Award is given annually for artistic contribution to society. Past honorees include Terrence McNally, Judith Ivey, Brian Murray, Robert Osborne, Anita Jaffe, and Charles Busch.

"All of us at GTG are thrilled at the opportunity to honor these two superb New Yorkers who have given their lives to making our planet a far better place," said GTG Artistic Director David Staller. "Both honorees have made invaluable contributions to us all with their artistry and open-hearted humanity. They're also great fun at parties."

There will be a special musical performance by Patrick Page (Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame). The evening's hosts will be Charles Busch (actor, writer) and Robert Osborne (TCM host), along with fellow co-chairs Ethan Litwin (GTG Chaiman) and Richard Weinberg, (producer and philanthropist).

A traditional Irish/American dinner will be served of corned beef and cabbage, stews, pies, puddings, ales and toasts. To get your Irish up, musicians will also be on hand. Cocktail attire. Kate Mulgrew stars as Galina "Red" Reznikov in the Netflix series "Orange is the New Black," and received a Critics Choice Television Award and a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy. She is internationally recognized as "Captain Janeway," in "Star Trek: Voyager." Film roles include Throw Momma from the Train, Star Trek: Nemesis, A Stranger is Watching, Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins and The Response. As Katherine Hepburn in Tea at Five, she was nominated for Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel awards. Other theater credits include Equus, The American Dream, The Sandbox, Iphigenia 2.0(Obie winner), Our Leading Lady, Black Comedy, Titus Andronicus and Somewhere Fun, all in New York. She performed in The Exonerated in London and regionally in The Royal Family, The Film Society, What the Butler Saw, Hedda Gabler, Measure for Measure, The Real Thing, Another Part of the Forest, Major Barbara and Antony and Cleopatra.

Kenneth Lonergan has written This is Our Youth (1996, on Broadway 2014), Drama Desk Best Play nominee; The Waverly Gallery (2000), Pulitzer Prize finalist; Lobby Hero (2001), Drama Desk Best Play nominee, Outer Critics Circle Best Play nominee, 2002 Olivier Award nominee for Best Play during its West End run; The Starry Messenger (2009), and Medieval Play (2012). His film, You Can Count on Me (2000), which he wrote and directed, was an Academy Award and Golden Globe Nominee for Best Screenplay, won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize, Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, NY Film Critics Circle, LA Film Critics Circle, Independent Spirit Award for Best Film and Best Screenplay, among numerous awards and nominations). His film, Margaret(2011) and Margaret - Extended Edition (2012), won the European Film Critics' FIPRESCI Award at the Vienna Film Festival, the Traverse City Film Festival Founders Prize. He co-wrote the screenplays for Analyze This and Gangs of New York (2002 WGA and Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay).
