Ghostlight Records has announced the digital release of THE Joe Iconis ROCK AND ROLL JAMBOREE today, April 16, 2013. The new album is a collection of songs performed by Joe and his merry band of musical theater misfits. Epic theater ballads, simple folk songs, heavy rock rave-ups and bar room sing-alongs coexist in this eclectic, borderline-insane line up of tunes. The album will be available through all digital music outlets. For updates on the album, visit www.sh-k-boom.com/joeiconisjamboree.html.

Featuring new interpretations of Iconis classics ("Headshot," "The Bar Song") as well as many songs appearing on record for the first time ever ("Goodbye Song," "Lonely Woman"), THE Joe Iconis ROCK AND ROLL JAMBOREE plays like the schizophrenic jukebox located in the back room of the seediest theater bar that ever existed. The album features two songs heard on the second season of NBC-TV's "Smash": "Broadway, Here I Come!" - performed on TV by Jeremy Jordan - and "The Goodbye Song," which will air later this spring.

Joe Iconis is an acclaimed performer, composer and lyricist who was praised by The New York Times for "music that kicks 1960s-style tunefulness with hard post-punk beats." Variety called his work "transporting" and Time Out New York lauded his "bouncy pop tunes and clever rhymes." Iconis has been nominated for two Drama Desk Awards, a Lucille Lortel Award, and is the recipient of BMI's Ed Kleban Award, the American Theater Wing's Jonathan Larson Award and the MAC/ASCAP John Wallowitch Award, among many others. As a composer, lyricist and bookwriter he has authored the musicals Bloodsong of Love, The Black Suits (with Robert Maddock), ReWrite, The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks and We The People. The original cast recording of Joe's theatrical rock concert Things To Ruin is also available on Ghostlight Records.

His concert act, Joe Iconis and Family - which frequently plays venues like Joe's Pub, The Beechman Theater and 54 Below - has included such star talent as Anthony Rapp, Daphne Rubin-Vega, John Gallagher, Jr. and Annie Golden. "When I first began appearing with the collective of artists now known as The Family, the name of our act was the Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree. Jamboree best described the spirit of the concerts: wild mashups of theater and rock'n'roll. We played a traditional cabaret space but performed with the sort of manic energy associated with punk clubs. The audience was invited to participate and kazoos were handed out every night. Every musical style was welcome and a sense of inclusiveness permeated the proceedings. While we perform as Joe Iconis & Family today, the shows remain Jamborees in design, concept, spirit and execution."

In addition to Mr. Iconis, featured vocalists on the CD include Katrina Rose Dideriksen, Molly Hager, Matt Hinkley, Ian Kagey, Eric William Morris, Krysta Rodriguez, Lance Rubin, Jason SweetTooth Williams and the Kissin' Kazoo Sisters. The album was produced by Brent Stranathan with additional production by Ian Kagey.

"The arrangements are all based on ones we've been playing live for years," says Iconis. "But they are adapted for this album. Showy and huge, we were more interested in capturing the spirit of the live show than we were in trying to recreate it."

Kurt Deutsch - President of Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight - commented, "If Joe Iconis owned the bar 'Cheers,' there would be a line around the block with people wanting to be part of his circle. He breeds a sense of commitment and community in his work, not only because he is a tireless and original artist who inspires passion, humor, and a twisted perspective of everyday life, but also because he is a fiercely loyal friend. We are honored to support Joe and his family with a home at the label."

Joe Iconis and Family will celebrate the release with four shows at the New York nightclub 54 Below (April 15, 20, 26 and May 5). In addition to the cast of the CD, the live shows will feature performances by Nick Blaemire (April 26 only), Liz Lark Brown, Seth Eliser, Dennis Michael Keefe, MK Lawson, Jeremy Morse (April 15 and April 20 only), Andrew Rannells (April 15 only), Rob Rokicki, Mike Rosengarten, and Jared Weiss.
