Get the Inside Scoop on SCHOOL OF ROCK at The Gramercy - Song List, Cast and More!

Before heading to Broadway this fall, School of Rock - THE MUSICAL rocked the Gramercy Theatre (127 E 23rd Street) for a brief residency, June 3rd through June 6th, with a public performance last night, June 9th. One of our editors caught the Saturday show, and BWW brings you inside details of the work-in-progress, plus photos of some SCHOOL OF ROCK groupies gathering for yesterday's show!

Based on the Paramount movie written by Mike White, School of Rock has a book by Julian Fellowes, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and new music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. School of Rock-The Musical will be directed by Laurence Connor (currently represented on Broadway by Les Miserables) -- he also helmed the concerts.

The Gramercy event featured choreography by Joann M. Hunter, scenic and costume design by Anna Louizos, lighting design by Jen Schriever (Tony winner Natasha Katz will design for Broadway), sound design by Mick Potter, and conductor/music supervisor Ethan Popp.

The band showcased Darren Ledbetter (associate music supervisor/keyboards), Brandon Ethridge (associate music supervisor/keyboards), Gary Seligson (drums), Pete Donovan (bass), Jeffrey Lee Campbell (guitar), Brian Koonin (guitar), and Tim Quick (guitar), as well as Michael Keller and Michael Aarons (music coordinators) and Randy Cohen (keyboard programmer).

No word yet on who will officially join Brightman on Broadway, but BWW will keep you updated as we learn more!

School of Rock-The Musical will begin preview performances on the Great White Way on Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening set for Sunday, December 6, 2015.

School of Rock-The Musical will be produced on Broadway by Andrew Lloyd Webber for The Really Useful Group, Warner Music Group & Access Industries, The Shubert Organization, and The Nederlander Organization. Nina Lannan and Madeleine Lloyd Webber serve as Executive Producers (and also produced The Gramercy Sessions Workshops).
