The family and friends of George Russell will be celebrating the life and legacy of this legendary composer/theoretician and innovator, whose profound influence upon artists of all musical disciplines spanned more than half a century.

Portrait of a Vertical Man will take place on Saturday - May 8 at 4:00 pm at All Souls Church (http://www.allsoulsnyc.org) 80th and Lexington Avenue in New York City. Doors will open at 3:30 pm.

George Russell is a hugely influential, innovative figure in the evolution of modern jazz, the music's only major theorist, one of its most profound composers, and a trail blazer whose ideas have transformed and inspired some of the greatest musicians of our time.
