The Public Theater's Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Mara Manus are pleased to announce that Nicki Genovese will join The Public Theater staff as its new General Manager, beginning part-time in December and full-time on January 2nd.

Genovese comes to The Public with nearly 20 years of theater experience, most recently working as the general manager for South Coast Repertory (SCR) in Costa Mesa, CA. SCR is a $10 million LORT C and B company, whose mission is, in part, to "explore the most urgent human and social issues of our time." She joined the SRC in 1999, where she had oversight of Accounting, Business, Facilities, Front of House, and IT; she also provided contract negotiations oversight in support of plays by established playwrights and emerging new writers, including co-productions. Ms. Genovese worked closely with the SCR's Board of Directors and with a committee focused on the creation and implementation of the Strategic Plan.

Before SCR, Ms. Genovese was the General Manager for two years at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, theater in residence at DeSales University, Allentown, PA. She worked as chief administrator and financial officer of the Equity SPT (small professional theater) company in residence and assisted with the development of the Board of Trustee structure and creation of a long range strategic plan.

Genovese has also managed productions and companies on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway, and has run several showcases, productions, and theatre companies in the Northeast. She received her MFA in Theatre Management from Columbia University.

"We are thrilled that Nicki Genovese will be joining The Public Theater," said Mara Manus, executive director. With her wealth of theater management experience, she is the perfect candidate for general manager and will be integral to the long-term growth of the institution."

Artistic Director Oskar Eustis concurred, adding that ""Nicki's brains, passion, experience and energy will be a significant source of support for The Public's mission. We are delighted to have her on board."
