The U.S. premiere of Galli's Sleeping Beauty will take place this Saturday, March 13, at Galli's midtown theater at 38 W 38 Street, Manhattan. The play, for kids ages 3 and up, begins at 3 p.m. and will also be performed on March 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28.

Galli's Sleeping Beauty is an uplifting remake of the original Grimm story. A witty king and his queen intentionally forget to invite the Thirteenth fairy to their first born daughter's Rose birthday celebrations. As a result the wicked witch curses the princess and her kingdom with a hundred-year sleep and only the "right" prince can awaken her again.

Galli's adaptation of Sleeping Beauty encourages children to never give up hope and to believe in your inner strengths. Playwright, clown, and director Johannes Galli has been bringing fairy tales to kids for almost 25 years. Believing that fairy tales are healing for children, he uses the original story, but changes the "grim" version into a humorous play that entertains kids and adults alike and has a fun and educating message in the end. "The Galli Theater with its approach of education through theater is crucial in changing children's lives," said Jaya Mohan, Information Officer at UNIS in Vienna.

Galli Theater-Theater for Personal Growth is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, whose programs support underprivileged children in New York City. For more information about its work and shows, please visit www.gallitheaterny.com.
