Participating in Art Hong Kong is another step in Galerie Lelong artists' distinguished history in Asia and the Pacific Rim. Museum participation began with a 1937 Japanese exhibition on Surrealism which included the work of Joan Miró. Since the 60's, Miró's work has been presented in a number of monographic exhibitions in Japan. Alberto Giacometti's first monographic exhibition in Tokyo took place at the Minami Gallery in 1958, and Giacometti in Asia recently toured Japan and Singapore from 2007-08.

Sean Scully has exhibited in Asia beginning with a solo show at the Fuji Television Gallery in Tokyo in 1988. Petah Coyne, Ana Mendieta, Angelo Filomeno and Rosemary Laing have each participated in exhibitions at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, Japan. Günther Förg and Kiki Smith have both presented solo exhibitions in Japan. Jane Hammond was involved in an exhibition of American printmakers which traveled to a number of significant art museums across China. In addition to participating in museum exhibitions, Jaume Plensa has completed two permanent works in Japan and is working on public projects in Singapore and Seoul. Beijing-based artist Lin Tianmiao has exhibited in numerous exhibitions and biennials in Asia and internationally since 1995, and was named the Martel Artist of the Year by the National Gallery of China in 2006.

Artists from Galerie Lelong have been included in many biennials throughout the Eastern Pacific RiM. Rosemary Laing and Barthélémy Toguo participated in the Sydney Biennial in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Alfredo Jaar was shown in the South Korean Gwangju Biennials of 1995 and 2000, and was also included in a group exhibition at the Kunsthalle Gwangju and Gwangju Art Museum in 2010. Bombay-based artist Nalini Malani participated in the Asia Pacific Triennial in Brisbane, Australia in 2008 and the Gwangju Biennial in 2000. She has shown extensively in India and has been included in group exhibitions throughout Asia.

Three artists from Galerie Lelong have been awarded the prestigious Hiroshima Peace Prize: Leon Golub and Nancy Spero (1996) and Krzysztof Wodiczko (1999). A fourth, acclaimed multi-media artist Yoko Ono, will receive the award in August 2011. Ono has exhibited in Japan, China, and Korea, and her major retrospective YES Yoko Ono was shown in Seoul and throughout Japan in 2003-04.
