The Television Academy tonight presented Part 2 of its two 2016 Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies for programs and individual achievements at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. This initial awards ceremony of the 68th Emmys honors guest performers on television drama series and comedy series, as well as the many talented artists and craftspeople behind the scenes who create television excellence.

The Netflix documentary series MAKING A MURDERER was a top winner of the night with four wins. Also a big winner was FOX's broadcast of GREASE LIVE, which picked up wins for Technical Direction, Lighting Design, Production Design (HAMILTON's David Korins) and Outstanding Special Class Variety. NBC's THE WIZ LIVE! picked up an award for Paul Tazewell's Outstanding Costumes. One of the biggest surprises of the night was a win for Tony Award host James Corden, for Best Variety Special - LATE LATE SHOW: CARPOOL KARAOKE PRIMETIME SPECIAL. Another unexpected win was a nod for Best Choreography to CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND, a freshman series on The CW that stars Broadway's Santino Fontana and features a host of musical numbers throughout the episodes. Perhaps the biggest upset of the evening was RuPaul beating out Ryan Seacrest, Jane Lynch, tom Bergeron and more as Best Reality Host.

This is the first year that the Creative Arts Emmy Awards was split into two ceremonies. On Saturday night, awards were primarily related to scripted programming, while tonight's categories included those for reality, variety, short form and animation.

An edited version of the Creative Arts Emmys, combining highlights from both nights' awards, will air Saturday, September 17 at 8pm ET on FXX. The main Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will take place on Sunday, September 18, live on ABC.
