Goyband, the feature film starring Tony-nominees Adam Pascal and Tovah Feldshuh and Helen Hayes award-winner Erik Liberman, will have its U.S. premiere on July 1 at the Randi and Bruce Pergament Jewish Film Festival in Roslyn, NY. The film recently debuted internationally at the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival, where NBC-TV's Jeffrey Lyons proclaimed it: "... lots of fun, and laughter too!"
In Goyband, fading teen idol "Bobby Starr" (Pascal) is booked to perform at the first kosher hotel-casino in the Catskills, owned by Feldshuh. With the help of an Orthodox choreographer (Liberman), Bobby brings the traditional strains of Klezmer to his contemporary hip-hop routine. Romance blooms and cultures clash when "Bobby" unexpectedly falls for the hotel owner's religious daughter.
Goyband's leads are currently busy on legit stages across the country.
Four-time Tony-nominee Tovah Feldshuh is on Broadway starring in Irena's Vow.
Adam Pascal reprises the role of "Roger," for which he received a Tony nod, in the national tour of Rent. Pascal's credits also include Aida and Cabaret on Broadway.
Erik Liberman's performance as "Motel" opposite Topol in the veteran's "Farewell Tour" of Fiddler on the Roof is being hailed as "tremendous1" and "a showcase of sheer star power2." He made his Broadway debut in 2007 in Harold Prince's LoveMusik and received the 2008 Helen Hayes Award for Merrily We Roll Along. He also choreographed this year's Drama League nominee, Mabou Mines Dollhouse.
