GODSPELL Kicks Off Coat Drive for the Holidays; Runs through Dec. 31

Broadway's new production of GODSPELL has partnered with the 2011 New York Cares Coat Drive. The GODSPELL initiative – dubbed the "Give Him Your Coat As Well" Coat Drive – takes place now through Saturday, December 31at Circle in the Square Theatre.

GODSPELL audience members can donate gently used, freshly laundered coats in the receptacle located in the lobby of the theatre. All coats will be donated to the New York Cares Coat Drive, an annual citywide tradition that has collected 1.5 million winter coats for men, women and children in need throughout the city since 1989.

In addition, for every ticket purchased to GODSPELL with the code GSNYC105 on BroadwayOffers.com, 10% of the ticket price will be donated to New York Cares.

New York Cares is New York City's largest volunteer organization. Founded in 1987, New York Cares runs volunteer programs for 1,200 nonprofits, public schools, and city agencies citywide. New York Cares volunteers help children learn to read, prepare meals for homeless and housebound people, help low income students get into college, revitalize public parks and schools, and much more. GODSPELL's Tony-nominated score features instantly recognizable hits including "Day by Day," "Turn Back, O Man," "Learn Your Lessons Well, "Prepare Ye the Way," "Light of the World" and many more.

One of the most popular musicals in the world, GODSPELL originally ran for more than 2,600 performances in New York and spawned successful touring productions in major U.S. cities, a 1973 motion picture adaptation and countless international engagements for the past 40 years.
