Grab your umbrellas, Gleeks! It's raining guest stars and sickness on this week's Glee. After getting Principal Figgins sick with a rare form of flu, Sue follows suit by getting Will sick, as well. Determined to not let the sickness get to him, Will goes about Glee Club rehearsal as planned, but soon realizes that he's too sick to continue, especially after envisioning the Glee Clubbers as children.

Once homebound, Will finds Terri attempting to help him with his recovery, but pushes off any help from his ex-wife.  Meanwhile, Mercedes begins to feel like she's being left out now that Kurt has become so close with Blaine, finding herself replacing the idea of friendship with tater tots.

After spending one rehearsal with Rachel as head of Glee Club, Kurt turns to Mr. Schuester's substitute teacher, Ms. Holly Holiday (guest star, Gwyneth Paltrow) in hopes that she will fill in for their ailing Glee Club adviser.  Much to Rachel's chagrin, Ms. Holiday commands the attention of the Glee Club by appealing to their wants and needs, performing Cee-Lo's "Forget You".

Failing to dismantle the football team, self-promoted Principal Sue decides to take on the tater tots on the lunch menu and do way with them. After watching his favorite movie, Singing in the Rain, Will dreams that he and Mike Chang perform the classic number, 'Make 'Em Laugh'.

Upon dealing with Ms. Holiday, Rachel alerts Mr. Schuester about what has been going on at Glee Club, concerned for the club's well-being. After Sue rids the cafeteria of the tater tots, Mercedes confronts Sue in the principal's office, claiming she is doing away with the tots to teach the school about nutrition.

After chatting with Ms. Holiday, Rachel reveals that even some of her ideas have been shot down; including an idea for a more glamorous-dance-y number, something Ms. Holiday is all over. After realizing he cannot get better without help, Will turns to Terri to help him recover, only to end up sleeping with her after they get too close. Kurt, attempting to calm Mercedes from her quest for tots, sets her up with a football player, only to have Mercedes go Norma Rae and start a riot for tots.

Following through on Rachel's idea, Ms. Holiday and Rachel perform "Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag" from Chicago.  . Will, determined to get things back in working order, tries to return to school sick, only to find Sue has been offered full-time principal and decides to fire Will, offering Ms. Holiday his position. At dinner, Kurt and Blaine conquer the conversation with gay issues, while Mercedes, driven mad by her need for tots and feelings of loneliness, zones out.

After being fired, Will confronts Ms. Holiday, who has already begun putting her touches on the choir room. However, Ms. Holiday's ways soon begin to rub Sue the wrong way, after she allows Mercedes to clog up Sue's exhaust pipe with tater tots. After her meeting with Sue, Holly turns to Will, revealing how she cannot commit to things and how she was once not so laid back with her teaching. Mid-way through the conversation, Terri shows up and becomes enraged at how Holly is there, going so far as to claim to be still married to Will.  Furious, Will tells Terri that no matter what they will never get back together and that she should leave for good, causing Terri to threaten that he will regret letting her slip away.

Kurt confronts Mercedes about the way she's using food (most notably, tater tots) in place of love and him in place of a boyfriend, thus insisting that she take care of herself more. After Mercedes leaves to go chat up with the boy Kurt tried to hook her up with, Kraofsky threatens Kurt by saying he will kill him if word of the kiss gets around school. Sue calls Will into her office, telling him how the students of the Glee Club are the only reason he's getting his job back. Upon his return, Will plans for the club to perform 'Singing in The Rain', but when the club wants something more now, Will gets an idea. With Holly and Mr. Schuester on lead vocals, the club performs a mash-up of "Singing in The Rain" and Rhianna's "Umbrella."

Until next week, Gleeks! Eat some tots and keep that umbrella ella ella handy for some singing in the rain.
