The time has come, Gleeks! The hiatus is over, so break out your slushies and let's get this party started!
Due to some shady business with Sue's Cheerios funds, the Glee Club is at the fundraising game again, this time selling salt water taffy, which is less than thrilling to the Glee Clubbers. After listening to everyone whine about money, Mike, Tina, Artie, and Brittany announce that they have joined the Brainiacs, the school's academic decathlon team, and after defeating Caramel, they too need money to go on to their next big competition. Sue calls together Terri [Will's ex-wife], Dustin [the Coach of Vocal Adrenaline], and Sandy [the former Glee Club director] to form her "Legion of Doom" set to destroy the Glee Club. Will turns to Holly about his fundraising idea, which she finds just as lame as the Glee Clubbers, thus she proposes a "Night of Neglect" benefit concert featuring songs of neglected artists.
The neglected themselves Glee Clubbers jump on the idea, while Sue and her cohorts begin to plot against the Glee Club - by having Dustin flirt up Holly, while Sandy and Sue form a "Heckler's Club" of people to heck the Glee Clubbers. Sunshine, who was part of the Caramel academic decathlon team arrives to ask the New Directions kids if she can perform in their benefit, which Rachel is not keen on. However, once Sunshine belts out "All By Myself" - the rest of the Glee Club over throws Rachel in favor of getting Sunshine's 600 twitter followers to attend their benefit. Lauren decides to help Mercedes get the "respect" she deserves, by becoming her manager and allowing her shine like the diva she is.
Will walks in on a very depressed Emma, who laments the annulment of her marriage to Carl, prompting Will to give her some attention, while Holly watches. Finn and Quinn approach Rachel to deal with Mercedes's diva demands, electing her to be head of talent for the benefit. Dustin makes a move on Holly after class, until Will walks in and interrupts - causing for some awkwardness for the couple. Rachel deals with Mercedes's diva demands, even going so far as to promise that on the day of performance, her feet will never touch the group.
Kurt and Blaine attend the benefit together, only to run into Karofsky in the hallway - which results the in a confrontation between the bully, the two boys, and Kraofsky's recent slushie victim, Santana. Meanwhile, the Hecklers take to their duty of heckling - causing Tina's performance to fall apart at the seams. Once the Hecklers are silenced by the salty-taste of salt water taffy, Mike shows off his hottest moves. However, everything comes to a halt when Lauren reveals that Mercedes, feeling her demands haven't been met, has left the building.
Holly confronts the Hecklers and appeals to them, which seems to fall on deaf ear as the Hecklers pack up their gear and leave. Rachel confronts Mercedes, who reveals she doesn't understand why she's not getting the attention she deserves, so Rachel appeals to her - diva to diva, telling her to take the closing slot for her own. Holly takes to the stage, performing "Turning Tables" by Adele, throwing herself into the number, allowing her feelings for Will to bubble into it.
Sue confronts Sandy after his fellow Hecklers leave him alone, urging him to get back into the benefit and destroy what's left of the Glee Club's spirit. Mercedes returns, and wins over everyone with her version of Aretha's "Ain't No Way" - which brings down the house so much that Rachel concedes to Mercedes. Will goes to talk to Holly, who reveals that she's been given a chance to teach in Cleveland, and she's going to take it. Holly tells Will to go for it with Emma, and reveals what Emma told her during their consulting session. Will finds Sandy in the choir room, who was so moved by Mercedes's performance that he's going to fund the academic decathlon's trip. Sue, angered by the failure of Dustin and Sandy's missions, turns to Terri - preparing her for her big mission. The Brainiac's win their competition, thanks in small part to Holly's teaching.
