According to Page Six of the New York Post, Vanessa Hudgens and the cast of Broadway's Gigi took to the street to serenade the cast of JERSEY BOYS, their neighboring show at 52nd Street's August Wilson Theatre.
The site reports that the talented group performed "So Long, Farewell," to fans and cast members of the long-running Frankie Valli-themed musical. In addition, the "Jersey Boys" cast will reportedly react in kind this weekend and serenade the Gigi bunch this Sunday, when the Lerner and Loewe musical shutters after just 20 previews and 86 performances.
Gigi, the new Broadway production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning musical comedy, began previews on Thursday, March 19 and opened officially on Wednesday, April 8.
Gigi, with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe and based on the novel by Colette, features a new book adaptation by Heidi Thomas (BBC/PBS's "Call the Midwife") and is choreographed by Emmy Award-winner Joshua Bergasse (On the Town, "Smash") and directed byEric Schaeffer (Follies, Million Dollar Quartet).
The new production of Gigi will have a National Tour in the 2016-2017 Season. The new adaptation of Gigi will also be available for licensing from Tams-Witmark Music Library.
Gigi stars Vanessa Hudgens, in the title role, Tony Award-winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza, Sister Act, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella) as Mamita, Corey Cott (Newsies) as Gaston Lachaille, three-time Tony Award-nominee Dee Hoty (The Will Rogers Follies, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public, Footloose) as Aunt Alicia, two-time Tony Award-nominee Howard McGillin (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Anything Goes) as Honoré Lachaille andSteffanie Leigh (Mary Poppins) as Liane d'Exelmans.
The production also features Cameron Adams, Kathryn Boswell, Max Clayton, Madeleine Doherty, Ashley BlairFitzgerald, Hannah Florence, Karla Puno Garcia, Alison Jantzie, Brian Ogilvie, James Patterson, Justin Prescott, Emily Pynenburg, Jeffrey C. Sousa, Manny Stark, Richard White and Amos Wolff.
