GHOST THE MUSICAL will open in Moscow at the Moscow Youth Palace on October 7. It is based on the 1990 romance film of the same name with a screenplay by Bruce Joel Rubin. Rubin also wrote the book for the musical adaptation as well as lyrics, with music and other lyrics written by English musician and songwriter Dave Stewart.
The stage version premiered first in Manchester, then in the West End in 2011, with a subsequent transfer to Broadway in 2012. The show was nominated for five Olivier Awards during its time in London, and three Tony Awards during its run on Broadway.
GHOST THE MUSICAL follows young couple Sam and Molly, who have their whole lives ahead of them. They've moved in together, and are planning for the future when the unthinkable happens. On a night out Sam is shot and killed by a robber. He becomes a ghost, his soul trapped between the world of the living and the dead, when he learns Molly is still in danger. His only chance of communication with her is through a medium named Oda Mae, who may or may not be a fraud, but will Molly believe that it's really him?
Richard Fleeshman and Caissie Levy led the original Broadway cast as Sam and Molly, respectively, along with Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Oda Mae, Bryce Pinkham as Carl, and Michael Balderrama as Willie Lopez. Fleeshman and Levy also starred in the West End production in 2011.
