Following the success of Lyric Tramp: The Songs of Alex Rubin, Get a Room! will launch in June as a six-month project pairing Alex Rubin with some of New York's hottest composers.

From June through November, Rubin will be matched with a mystery composer each month and tasked with writing a brand new song. The entire process will be filmed and posted online as a mini-documentary series. The project will culminate in a concert showcasing the composers' established work as well as the songs written with Rubin.

Alex Rubin is the 2013/14 Big Vision Empty Wallet Playwriting Fellow, a member of the BMI Workshop, a 2012 SPACE on Ryder resident artist, and recipient of the Frances Ford Coppola Award for Excellence in Theatre. Musicals and cabarets include At the Edge; Sorry, Not Sorry; and The Best Little Hoarder in Television. Published songs include "Mars or Bust"; "Hey, Ry"; and "Hacktivist". Her work has been produced in concerts, readings, and workshop productions at Theater for the New City, The Union Club, The Dramatists Guild, The Laurie Beechman Theater, The Duplex, John Hopkins University, The Fringe Festival in New York City, The Metropolitan Room, The Tank, The 45th Street Theater, Hofstra University, Thunderstruck Productions, and Bookshop Workshops.

Composers interested in participating in Get a Room! should contact Producer Michael Hull at GetARoomNYC@gmail.com.

Workspace will be sponsored by Breather, private spaces for work, meetings, and relaxation that can be reserved on the go! Breather has five locations in Manhattan from midtown to SoHo, offering amenities for artists and professionals in a beautifully designed private space.
