Casting is now complete for Diane Shaffer's VIVA LA VIDA!, which will run at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, Long Island from July 18th through August 6th.

The previously announced Mercedes Ruehl stars.  Joining her will be Rene Pereyra (films such as Traffic) and Liza Colón-Zayas (Our Lady of 121st Street).  Susana Tubert will direct the production.

Ruehl, who won a Tony Award for her performance in Lost in Yonkers and who was seen on Broadway most recently in The Goat, will star as Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who became equally famous for her colorful, intensely personal and visionary art and for a stormy personal life that included marriage to muralist Diego Rivera and affairs with men such as communist Leon Trotsky.  The play explores the last 18 months of Kahlo's fabled life.  Pereyra will play Rivera, while Colón-Zayas will be seen as Rosita.

Shaffer's other plays include Sacrilege and Solace at Twilight.
