WHEN: Noon, Wednesday, Nov. 16

WHERE: Times Square and 44th St.

WHO: Every Pittsburgher working in show business in New York

WHY: To meet old friends and support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

* What do Kathleen Marshall, Stephen Flaherty, Jeff Goldblum, Billy Porter, Jeff Calhoun, Rob Ashford and Michelle Pawk have in common? Like George S. Kaufman, Gene Kelly and August Wilson before them, they all come from Pittsburgh. To celebrate this talent stream, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette hopes to gather every Pittsburgher who works in show business in New York for a group picture in Times Square at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

* A similar gathering drew more than 200 in 1994. After the picture, there'll be a party near by.

* The Post-Gazette will contribute $10 to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for each Pittsburgher who shows up. Everyone will be mailed a copy of the picture, and there will be a film crew there, working on a movie about Pittsburgh.

* You qualify as a Pittsburgher if you were born or raised there, went to college at CMU, Point Park, etc.; or have performed there regularly. It's a spiritual thing --- you decide. All Western Pennsylvanians invited.

* Our definition of show business is equally generous, including stage, film, TV, dance, vocal and any supporting trades, as performer, creator, administrator or crew.

* Any questions? Contact Chris Rawson, drama editor of the Post-Gazette, at crawson@post-gazette.com or 412-263-1666. RSVP if you like; but you can also just show up.

* Why Nov. 16? It's the birthday of George S. Kaufman, Pittsburgh's first great gift to the American theater. But there's a second great American playwright from Pittsburgh, so this year's gathering will also honor August Wilson.
