Concert Artists Guild is pleased to present double bassist Sam Suggs in his New York solo recital debut at The Sheen Center, 18 Bleecker Street, on Tuesday, March 20 at 7:30pm.
Sam will give the world premiere of his chamber concerto, featuring CAG ensemble PUBLIQuartet and percussionists Doug Perry and Jonny Allen. The work is a co-commission by the BMI Foundation and CAG. He will also perform his reconstruction of a lost bass concerto by Haydn with CAG ensemble Argus Quartet and pianist Robin Giesbrecht. In addition, the program will feature solo bass works by composers including David Walter, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jacob Druckman, and Michael Laurello.

Versatile double bassist Sam Suggs was named Concert Artists Guild's New Music/New Places Fellow at the 2016 CAG Competition. As a performer-composer, Sam is committed to expanding the literature of the double bass canon, often combining performances of classic works with his own compositions and reworkings. He was named New Artist of the Month by Musical America in October 2015, soon after receiving the Gary Karr Prize for 1st Place at the 2015 International Society of Bassists Solo Competition.
Since 1951, Concert Artists Guild has helped more than 500 young musicians launch concert careers.
