Deus Ex Productions & the 10th Annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC - will present the New York premiere of Michael Schlitt's play Mike's Incredible Indian Adventure, which had its world premiere last fall at Los Angeles' 7th Annual Edge of the World Theater Festival. It will run August 15th through August 27th at the Flea Theatre (41 White Street).
"In his play about a film about a play, Mike reveals how his love for the theatre & his lust for a "career maker" seduce him into making a dangerous Faustian bargain: lead an American theatre troupe on a tour of India, performing Neil Simon's They're Playing Our Song, in order to document the absurd spectacle on film. An epic tale of clashing cultures, gastric distress and excruciating epiphany, Mike's Incredible Indian Adventure chronicles a filmmaker's wrong turn off the road to success," state press notes.Schlitt (playwright, performer) is a founding member of the Actors' Gang Theatre, a co-recipient of the Margaret Harford award for "Outstanding Contribution to Los Angeles Theatre," has worked on over 40 productions, directed the American premiere of George Tabori's Mein Kampf, adapted and directed Gogol's The Inspector General, developed (with Michael Neimand and Joe Grimm) and directed Little Man in the Box (included in LA Times 10 Best Productions of 1997) and performed his solo piece Drive, He Said. He has also made numerous short films.Videos
