Half Life,
a controversial new play by Robert Moulthrop, will extend its run at
this year's New York International Fringe Festival. Originally set for August 13th to August 27th at the Flea Theatre (41 White Street), it will now play 9 more performances from September 9th through 24th.
Moulthrop, whose other plays include Who Cares and T.L.C. won Outstanding Playwright at the 2005 Fringe Festival for the play. Directed
by Theresa K. Pond, "the 90-minute drama examines the fallout from a
devastating classroom incident that explodes a family and a community.
Husband, wife, daughter and best friends come to terms with the
aftermath of the devastation. 'He's a good teacher; he's served his
prison time for touching that girl; I just want everything to be the
same,' says his wife," according to production notes. "A tense, tautly written new play . . . a singularly searing and realistic portrayal of a suddenly trendy taboo," wrote New York Magazine's Boris Kachka.
Anna Chlumsky (My Girl, My Girl 2) is featured in the play along with Cynthia Foster,* Michele Fulves,* Cameron Hughes and Mark Lynch.*
Half Life's performance schedule is Thursday through Saturday at 9pm, on Sept. 9th and 10th, 15th through 17th and 22nd through 24th; there will be a special performance on Monday, Sept. 19th at 7 PM.
