As first announced by Michael Riedel of the New York Post, "MTV has struck a deal with the producers of Legally Blonde to broadcast an entire performance of the $10 million musical...The performance will be taped at the Palace Theatre later this month and will be aired on MTV in October."
Originally, Legally Blonde representatives said the news was premature, stating there would be an official announcement "if an agreement is reached between the producers of the Broadway production and MTV [to] air a behind-the-scenes special or the production in its entirety...There is no confirmed news to be reported at this time."
Legally Blonde, a popular musical among the female "tween" demographic, also seems to be the similar MTV target-audience (ages 15 through 25).
"Blonde ambition is singing and dancing its way to Broadway in the new musical Legally Blonde. Sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take 'no' for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone 'serious,' Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. Legally Blonde will take you from the sorority house to the halls of justice with Broadway's brightest new heroine (and of course, her chihuahua, Bruiser). The verdict? This much fun shouldn't be legal!" explain press notes.
Legally Blonde, currently playing the Palace Theatre (1554 Broadway) has the following performance schedule: Tuesday through Saturday at 8PM; Wednesdays & Saturdays at 8PM; and Sundays at 2PM & 7PM. For tickets or information visit www.legallyblondethemusical.com
