The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will hold open auditions for its fall production of The Wedding Singer, to be performed October 22 and 23 at 8:00 p.m. at the Franklin Country Club. Auditions for performers ages 14 and up will take place on Wednesday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts, 38 Main Street, Franklin.

Based on the 1998 film of the same name, The Wedding Singer is a rollicking tribute to the ‘80s, with music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin. The Tony-nominated musical takes place in New Jersey in 1985 and features the character Robbie, a lead singer for a wedding band who is rejected by his girlfriend at the altar. With songs such as "It's Your Wedding Day," "Someday" and "Saturday Night in the City," the musical will engage the audience in a trip down memory lane.

For the auditions on September 15, prospective performers should prepare 16 bars of an 80's pop or rock ballad or similar song. For character descriptions and more detailed information about the show, visit www.fpaconline.com.

The box office for The Wedding Singer opens on September 20th. Tickets for the show include a dessert buffet at intermission. Dinner is available at the Franklin Country Club prior to each performance; reservations are required.
