Rich sat down with Eric Johnson at Re/Code to chat about Hamilton and the phenomenon surrounding it. He compares the current obsession Hamilton has created as something similar to Hair or Cats. In terms of the current theater climate he says, "I do think that theater is generally much better shaped now than when I was a theater critic."

He continues by saying, "It's really booming. Hamilton, first of all is a brilliant show, and secondly it speaks to the entire country in a fresh way about its history and about its ideals. It's hugely entertaining and has a cast album that is mesmerizing like watching it in the theater."

Rich continues by saying that there is simply a ton of really good theater happening right now. He says, "Any phenomenon like that is a one of, but the fact is that there is a lot of good theater right now. There's a play that opened a few months ago called 'The Humans' that is one of the best plays that I've seen in the last two years."

The conversation also featured a discussion on Hamilton's success and the price and hard to come by tickets. Rich tells , "They will have a suburb duplicate and have companies that are going to tour and it will be like The Book of Mormon, the last big hit, it will be offered to younger people and at a cheaper ticket. People probably have to be patient for that."
