Enjoy the best of downtown arts & culture at the FAB! Festival and Block Party. On Saturday, September 25th from 1:00PM-5:00PM, FAB (Fourth Arts Block) offers a FREE preview of the fall season. See below for a list of the multiple stages for performances, the selection of local artisans and gourmet food vendors, film screenings, installations, hands-on activities, and classes all on one block, there is something for everyone.

Councilwoman Rosie Mendez will make the Opening Remarks on the Cabaret Stage. The other performances on the Cabaret Stage will include:

The Operating Theater will present and excerpt from their upcoming work 'Transatlantica' - a comedy about death, with deer and music.

The New York Neo-Futurists present an excerpt from their new work '(un)afraid' - prepare to be, well, scared.

WOW Café Theatre will show a selection of WOW artists from the upcoming season including Scout Durwood and Lydia Sykes.

La MaMa Cabaret takes to the street with presentations by Poetry Electric, Poor Baby Bree, and Fioretta in Musica - all part of their rapidly approaching fall season!

Fantasy Grandma will knock your socks off as only rapping, stylin' grandmas can.

Theater Three Collaborative will present a reading of plays surrounding themes of war, peace, and theater.

The Living Theatre presents a reading of poem Revolution and Counter Revolution by Judith Malina and Brad Burgess.

Bleecker Street Opera will present a selection of works from their upcoming opera season.

Summit Dance Theater will present selections from new works debuting in full at their 2011 New York Season.

Dance & Music Stage:

Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company presents 'Crossroads to Hathaway,' a multi-layered collaboration featuring AOTDC with songs by the rhythm and blues singer/songwriter Donny Hathaway.

Rod Rodgers Dance Company & Youth Company present selections from their 2009-2010 modern dance repertory.

rachel korenstein/KOREresponse present a new work of contemporary dance.

Performance Space 122 presents the musical talents of Dan Fishback. Major works include 'You Will Experience Silence' (Dixon Place, 2009, which the Village Voice called "sassier and more fun than Angels in America"), 'No Direction Homo' (P.S. 122, 2006), and 'Please Let Me Love You' (Dixon Place, 2006).

Inmixedcompany performs a work from their pop-son inspired work in progress 'Some Enchanted Believin' - It's Rogers and Hammerstein vs. the 80s in this South Pacific/Journey mashup. Grab a life vest and hold on for a wild ride.

East Village Dance Project will show an original piece by The Teen Repertory Company.

DanceNOW NYC presents winners from the 2010 DanceNOW Challenge at Dance Theater Workshop.

Downtown Art will present Act 2 of their acclaimed street opera 'The Waistmaker's Opera, Act 1' will be performed twice earlier in the day in various locations around the East Village - sign up for that portion in advance at www.fabnyc.org.

4th Street Theater at New York Theatre Workshop:

Maura Nguyen Donohue/inmixedcompany - Madame Butterfly meets Billy Idol meets The Vapors.

Richard Ebihara sings the famous aria, un bel di, while Perry Yung performs a butoh wedding/death dance (in Japanese drag). Jessica Colotti joins with a sumptuous, slinky, high noon White Wedding solo - with nuns accompanying Rick. The nuns bust out for a final Turning Japanese/Un Bel Di mashup wedding/seppuku (ritual disembowelment) romp.

Peoples Theatre Project - It is hard enough living and surviving in New York City. It's even harder when you have a Mariachi Band attached to your hip. A comedy about New Yorkers, writer's block, the Zen of subway riding, and the difficulties of keeping a mariachi band in your small 1 bedroom walk-up.

Teatro Circulo - Sabina y Lucrecia marks the New York theatrical debut of Johanna Rosaly the leading actress of such unforgetable soap operas like Cristina Bazán and El hijo de Ángela María. The play tells the story of two mental asylum escapees whose paths cross in an undetermined time and space; their coming together both strengthens and weakens them. In a claim for dignity, Adellach's characters escape to a world where it's unclear if what prevails is the reality of their insanity or the insanity of their reality.

Site Specific Work
The Shining Mantis - Watch as Mike Estabrook and Ernest Concepcion battle live.

Helaine Gawlica - This piece created and performed by Helaine Gawlica strives to embody language with various gestural and vocal articulations while performing through the concept of failure.

Works in Progress NYC - A free, hands on, silk screening demo from approximately 1-3pm. Bring your own t-shirt for a free screen print!
