Four Corners Ensemble is proud to share three upcoming concerts this month in New York City.
The first concert on November 16th is the "New Vision" by the International Chopin and Friends Concert, held at the Consulate- General of Poland. This exciting festival showcases innovative artists who emulate Chopin in uniting the traditional and the modern, the young and the mature, the national and the universal, and all the art forms. New York Dance & Arts Innovations, Inc. (NYDAI) is the founding sponsor of this popular fall celebration.
In addition to the three winning pieces selected from the "New Vision" Composition Competition, by Richard Heller (Austria), Leishuo Ye (China), and Karol Osman (Poland), Four Corners will present two mini concertos by Shuying Li for flutist Erika Boysen and clarinetist Joshua Anderson; as well as new works written for Four Corners by Polish composers Marcel Chyrzynski and Jakub Polaczyk. Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/strolling-on-a-world-map-tickets-51070973657.
The second concert on November 17th is the ensemble's "Strolling on a World Map" concert at the Areté Venue and Gallery in Brooklyn. Four Corners Ensemble will present four dynamic mini-concertos from its "World Map Concerti Series." Composed by award-winning composer Shuying Li, "World Map Concerti" is a multi-cultural and multi-national collection with virtuosic soloists and a soloist-level "orchestra".
These concertos focus on each soloist's unique geographical, cultural and personal identities. Featuring soloists Erika Boysen, Siyuan Li, Joshua Anderson, and Jinn Shin; you'll get to experience premieres of the flute concerto "Click Song," based on South Africa's "Quongqothwane;" clarinet concerto "American Variations," on an original theme in various American music styles; piano concerto "Canton Snowstorm," an imagination of a heavy snowstorm in the warmest place in China; and cello concerto "Matilda's Dream," a fantasy based on Australian folk song "Waltzing Matilda." Guest performers and our soloists will also present works by Paul Chihara, Larry Alan Smith, Victoria Bond, Marcel Chyrzynski and Jakub Polaczyk, with guest performers Wojtek Komsta and Jakub Polaczyk. This night promises to showcase some of the most dynamic contemporary repertoire by living composers.
The third and final New York concert of the month on November 18th marks the ensemble's Carnegie Hall debut. Four Corners Ensemble will be featured in the New York Conservatory of Music Recital at Weill Recital Hall. They will present Polish composer Jakub Polaczyk's "al F..e" written for flute, clarinet, viola and piano.
