According to The Hollywood Reporter, GOD OF CARNAGE alum Jimmy Smits is set to star and co-executive produce a new untitled NBC legal drama pilot by John Eisendrath.

THR reports that the pilot "centers on a by-the-book Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who excuses himself from the bench to go into private practice and fight constitutional injustices."

Before appearing in GOD OF CARNAGE, Smits made a name for himself starring in "NYPD Blue" and "L.A. Law." THR also states that Smits appeared on one season of NBC's "The West Wing" as well as one season on "Dexter" for which he earned his 12th Emmy nomination.

After receiving rave reviews in London, GOD OF CARNAGE opened on Broadway March 22, 2009 to unanimous praise.

Jeff Daniels originated the role of ‘Alan' in the original Broadway production of GOD OF CARNAGE, for which he received a Tony nomination. In a rare casting twist, he will return to the show to play the role of ‘Michael.'

Janet McTeer created the role of ‘Veronica' in the London premiere of the play. Ms. McTeer is appearing with the support of Actors' Equity Association. The producers gratefully acknowledge Actors' Equity Association for its assistance of this production.

The Yasmina Reza comedy won the Tony Award for Best Play and Best Direction of a Play (Matthew Warchus). GOD OF CARNAGE also won the 2009 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.

GOD OF CARNAGE is a comedy of manners without the manners. The play deals with the aftermath of a playground altercation between two boys and what happens when their parents meet to talk about it.
