Former 'Clueless' Co-Star Alicia Silverstone Speaks on Brittany Murphy's Death

As previously reported, actress Brittany Murphy died at the age of 32 yesterday, December 20, after going into full cardiac arrest early in the morning.

The LAPD has now confirmed that no foul play was involved with the actress' death.  Results from the autopsy are expected shortly.

Murphy's former Clueless co-star, Alicia Silverstone, who is currently in rehearsals for Broadway's Time Stands Still - opening at the Samuel J. Freidman Theatre on January 28 - has released the following statement about her former partner-in-crime:

"I always felt connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together. I feel love in my heart for her - and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad.  I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm and so sweet."

Brittany Murphy had an early start in show business performing at the age of nine in a production of 'Les Miserables'. Her first Hollywood gig came mere years later, at the age of 14, when she starred in the series 'Drexell's Class'. Murphy also guest starred on several television series including 'Parker Lewis Can't Lose', 'Blossom', and 'Frasier', and had recurring roles on 'Sister, Sister', 'Party of Five', and 'Boy Meets World.'

Murphy's breakthrough role came in 1995 when she starred in the teen comedy 'Clueless' opposite Alicia Silverstone. Other movie credits include, 'Just Married', 'Girl, Interrupted', '8 Mile', 'Sin City', 'The Dead Girl', 'Uptown Girls', 'Riding in Cars with Boys', 'Don't Say a Word', Spun, 'Little Black Book', and 'Sin City'.

Murphy also delved in music; in 2006 she released the single 'Faster Kill Pussycat' from the album 'A Lively Mind'. Murphy's voice can also be heard singing in the film 'Happy Feet' where she performed a cover of Queen's 'Somebody to Love' and Earth, Wind & Fire's 'Boogie Wonderland'.

Murphy played the role of Cathering in the Broadway production of 'A View from The Bridge', which opened on December 14, 1997 at the Criterion Center Stage Right. The show later transferred to the Neil Simon Theatre, where the production ran for 239 performances. Directed by Michael Mayer, the cast included Anthony LaPaglia and Allison Janney. The production won the Tony Award for: Best Revival of a Play; Best Actor in a Play (LaPaglia); and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play (Janney), and Outstanding Direction of a Play.

Murphy was most recently cast as the main character Cilla, in the Lifetime TV movie 'Tribute', based on the novel by Nora Roberts.

Murphy, once linked to actor Ashton Kutcher, married screenwriter Simon Monjack in May 2007 at a private Jewish ceremony
