Footlight Records, perhaps the country's foremost store dealing in theatre and cabaret recordings, will close down shop on in late July. No specific date has been set for the closing of the 13 East 12th Street store, but Footlight will expand its website and continue business online.

"Because more and more of our customers have started shopping through our Web site, this has signaled to us that a strictly online store will actually give us the potential to provide better service by increasing our selection of hard to find shows and films, expanding our selection of DVD's, and much more. We will still be taking phone orders, of course, for our customers who are not on the net," the company said in a press release.

In the future, Footlight.com will include reviews of new products as well as a chat board
