Foaming At The Mouth Productions announces their production of Nicholas Kazan's Blood Moon. Directed by Celine Rosenthal (Producer of Broadways's Seminar, Leap Of Faith), this "Based on a True Story" play stars Bob Jesser(Alan); Rachel Seiferth (Manya); and Jef Canter (Gregory). Blood Moon begins performances Friday, March 6 and runs through March 21, with a special fundraising preview on March 5 to help raise money for SafeHorizon, an organization that helps move "victims of violence from crisis to confidence." The official press opening is on Friday, March 6.
"This is an amazingly powerful play with incredibly sensitive subject matter," said Bob Jesser. "We don't feel right bringing this material to life without giving back to those who've had to pay the price for these kinds of experiences, which is why we are working with SafeHorizon to raise money and awareness." He goes on to say "Kazan has written a complex and well- crafted play very much in the Grand Guignol style of theatre and it surely promises to leave people talking when they leave the show."
Blood Moon takes place in the early 1980s in New York City. The play begins when Manya, 19, a college senior, arrives with her sole surviving family (Uncle Gregory) at the swank New York apartment of Gregory's friend Alan. Alan is immediately attracted to Manya, as she is intrigued by him: an older man who's suave, cynical and charismatic. A year later, Manya invites both Alan and her uncle over for a dinner party and spends the evening filling them in on the incredible journey she has taken over the past year.
Blood Moon will be performed as a guest production at Workshop Theater Company, 312 West 36th Street, New York, NY 10018. Tickets for the show are $20, Fundraiser tickets are $40. All tickets go on sale Monday, February 2 at 12:00 PM EST. They can be purchased by calling 800-838-3006 or going to BrownPaperTickets.com.
