In his years in the music industry, John Watts has remained nothing if not original. As part of super group Fischer-Z, John Watts was responsible for over 2 million record sales. He has been a songwriter in residence on 6 Music, created limited edition sculptures with his own vinyl and is an internationally recognized poet and songwriter who has released over 17 albums. He is currently preparing to head Stateside for the month of October to partake in a number of CMJ shows. Each is uniquely John Watts as he will be participating in everything from guest lecture to spoken word to, of course, musical performance.
With the December release of his new album Morethanmusic, John is also celebrating his rich history with the release of a re-recorded hits collection, to be released in Europe to coincide with a November tour. Morethanmusic's first single "HEAD ON" will release on October 17th - the day of John's Delancey NYC performance. "HEAD ON," as all of John's music tends to be, is again quite personal and emotional as he draws on current social concerns, events and norms for inspiration. Motivation might be the more proper term. John's reputation for observation and contextualizing contemporary issues is uncompromised and indeed exemplified by his description of a small child watching the execution of Saddam Hussein on a mobile phone in "HEAD ON."
