American Buffalo will being previews at the Belasco Theatre on October 31st with an official opening scheduled for November 17th.
American Buffalo is a 1976 play by playwright David Mamet and won the 1977 Outer Critics Circle Award. "The play concerns a team of men, Don, Teach, Bob, and Fletcher (who does not appear in the play, but is referred to), who are conspiring to steal a coin collection from a wealthy man. Don, who owns a junk shop, sold a nickel to a man for much less than what it was worth. Out of revenge, he and his friend-in-training, Bob, plan to steal the man's coin collection after suspecting that he went away for the weekend," describes press notes.
The production will be directed by Robert Falls, who has also directed Long Day's Journey Into Night and Glengarry Glen Ross and will star John Leguizamo, Cedric The Entertainer and Haley Joel Osment.
American Buffalo is produced by Elliott Martin, Ben Sprecher, Louise Forlenza, Wendy Federman, and Nelle Nugent.
American Buffalo will play the following schedule at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues): Tuesday at 7pm; Wednesday - Saturday at 8pm, Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm, and Sunday at 3pm.
