Multi-Academy Award-winning writer and director Quentin Tarantino completed a preliminary draft of new screenplay THE HATEFUL EIGHT last year and subsequently sent it to a few friends and collaborators only to have it leak, infuriating the outspoken auteur to such an extent that he put off plans to make the film at all and a live staged reading of the aforementioned leaked script was held last week in Los Angeles, featuring the auteur himself alongside an all-star cast.
Tarantino led the reading, which included performances by Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Zoe Bell and more.
Reportedly, the script centers on a stagecoach disaster and the bounty hunters, Confederate soldiers and other figured affected by it, biding their time at a saloon during a blizzard.
Of note, Tarantino currently is set to appear in court for a hearing in his lawsuit against Gawker.com, who leaked the original script through a link posted on their site last year.
Also, Tarantino announced at the reading that he will pursue further drafts of the script and intends on filming the property eventually following future revisions.
