GLEE mastermind Ryan Murphy is the man behind the new feature film adaptation of Larry Kramer's acclaimed AIDS-centric drama THE NORMAL HEART and the first glimpse of international mega-star Julia Roberts - as well as a new look for popular Broadway/Hollywood rising talent Jonathan Groff onset - has leaked.
This week, a particularly Independance Day-befitting onset photo of Jonathan Groff in a Fire Island-set scene was revealed, while Roberts was spied onset last week watching playback while sharing the director's deck with Murphy for a short stint.
Of course, Murphy and Roberts previously collaborated on the 2010 feature film EAT, PRAY, LOVE.
Groff appears in costume - cut-off short-shorts and 80s-era muscle tee included - alongside film lead Mark Ruffalo in a behind-the-scenes still, while Roberts watches Murphy directing the action in the paparazzi-cultivated peek at the HBO film.
Previously, unofficial shots have leaked of Groff sharing a painful scene with Taylor Kitsch and Joe Mantello - available here - though this is the very first look of Roberts onset - though, alas, not in character or costume (yet).
THE NORMAL HEART stars Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Taylor Kitsch, Jonathan Groff and Julia Roberts, also featuring appearances by Joe Mantello, Armand Schulz, Joel Grey, Frank De Julio and more. It is directed by Ryan Murphy.
THE NORMAL HEART will premiere on HBO early next year.
Additionally, check out the first shots of the cast onset of the film, available here.
