The very first promotional poster featuring country music superstar and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood as Maria Von Trapp in NBC's highly anticipated live TV production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's cherished classic THE SOUND OF MUSIC has just been released.

Donning a braided blonde hairstyle with a Viennese aire as well sporting a comely corseted costume evoking the era - to say nothing of the location and character - Underwood rhapsodically smiles with arms outstretched as she is framed by a wide open blue sky and vast expanse of mountain peaks below.

Additionally, the ad boasts, "The family classic comes alive again!" in a wink to the famous lyrics of the title song.

Last week, a casting call went out to find actors to portray the children that make up the Von Trapp clan.

Last month, it was reported that Stephen Moyer would essay the role of Captain Von Trapp.

Of note, it was also announced today that joining the film will be Audra McDonald as Mother Abbess, Laura Benanti as Elsa and Christian Borle as Max. More on that story is available here.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC, directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller and Rob Ashford, produced by Craig Zadan & Neil Meron airs on December 5 at 8 PM on NBC.
