Four promotional tracks from the new politically-charged and contemporary musical WITNESS UGANDA, directed by American Repertory Theater's Tony Award-winning Diane Paulus and composed by Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews, have now been released.
"Put It All On The Line" is a delectable duet featuring a female and male voice (the latter of whom clearly sounds to be SMASH star Leslie Odom Jr., who has previously participated in developmental readings of the piece) discussing their recent e-mail correspondence set to a mildly reggae-tinged, modern pop sound - exploding in a hip-hop-meets-techno sequence near the climax of the stirring and emotional song.
"Bricks" is a percussion-fueled group number featuring elements of digital distortion merged with tribal sounds in an altogether quite compelling musical melange.
"Kyussa" is a patter song tinged with chanting and a dubstep beat underneath, while "I'd Cross The Blue" completes the foursome with a surreal and uniquely mystical musical experience all its own - with some club sounds mixed in and a Rihanna-esque vocal line, too.
All four are enticing new tracks from the exciting new musical and make WITNESS UGANDA an early must-see 2014 event.
WITNESS UGANDA is set to premiere in February 2014.
