BroadwayCon, from IF/THEN star Anthony Rapp and the creators of LeakyCon and GeekyCon, will be the first-ever Broadway fan convention, held January 22-24, 2016 in New York City.
BroadwayCon is described on the event's official website as "a chance to get the complete Broadway fan experience, from every angle, all in one incredible weekend."
The description continues: "BroadwayCon brings you through the stage door to see and experience what goes on both on stage and behind the scenes. It is a place where Broadway fans can come together to celebrate the shows they love with people who bring them to life...join fellow fans, performers, and creators from some of your favorite on- and off-Broadway shows as they gather at the famed New York Hilton Midtown hotel to perform, discuss, debate, and celebrate. We are working to assemble a spectacular lineup of industry professionals, Broadway veterans, and creators to bring you an inside look at what it means to be part of the grandest of theater traditions. Witness incredible performances. Hear from our hand-picked panelists about their experiences on stage, and off. Attend panels, discussions, shows, workshops, and more with the industry's leading performers and creators. Meet some of your favorite Broadway stars through free autographs and photo opportunities away from the stage door. Be a part of a special community experience and make the kinds of memories you'll be talking about for years to come."
Stay tuned for announcements on panels, workshops, performances, Q&As and the many stars who will be participating next winter!
And in the meantime, read a message from creator Anthony Rapp:
"I signed on to help create this event not only because it is the first convention for theater fans, and not only because it is a singular opportunity to spend quality time with those who love Broadway most, but because this is the convention that this community deserves.
"BroadwayCon was conceived and created by people who live and love theater. We are shaping an outstanding, diverse cast of performers and professionals, ranging from veterans to the freshest faces on the boards. We are creating content that will inspire, excite, and just plain entertain. We're working with causes close to the community's heart, starting with the fantastic Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.
"But most of all, we are creating a way for we who are most passionate about theater to come together to celebrate this beautiful tradition. I will see you in January!
ANTHONY RAPP
