New York City's Comic Strip Live, (www.comicstriplive.com) the Guinness Book of World Records holder of the Longest Stand Up Comedy Show, presents Comic Strip Live Theater, one- and two-person theatrical shows. Comic Strip Live Theater will host its first production, They Call Me Mister Fry, at the club (1568 Second Avenue, NYC 10028 @ East 82nd Street, 212-861-9386) beginning Friday, November 6 at 8 PM.

They Call Me Mister Fry (www.theycallmemisterfry.com) is a one-man show starring Jack Freiberger as a white boy from Indiana who ends up teaching fifth graders in South Central Los Angeles. Based on Freiberger's real-life experience, the 90-minute show will run from November 6 through December 31, 2009. Show times will be at 6 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and at 2 PM and 5 PM on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, prior to the evening's comedy shows. Tickets are $25 for the general public, $20 for teachers with ID, and $12 for children under 16 years of age (plus 2 drink minimum for all tickets; non-alcoholic drink minimum is an unlimited drink
offer for $20). Comic Strip Live is the first comedy club to produce one- and two-person theatrical shows.

Anyone who attends a Comic Strip Live Theater performance will be entitled to discounted comedy show tickets for the same or next evening's shows.

'Richie and I are thrilled to bring more affordable and fun theatre to our club, says co-founder Bob Wachs. Through Comic Strip Live Theater, we look forward to a long run with ŒThey Call Me Mister Fry and hope to move it Off-Broadway as well as to national tours. In fact, we'll run the show at Comic Strip Live Theater as long as audiences are willing to come!

Jack Freiberger, Mister Fry, is ecstatic to have his show in New York City and at Comic Strip Live Theater. Working with Bob and Richie has been a pleasure. I can't wait to bring the timely and fascinating story of Mister Fry to the tri-state area's audiences. My experience as a teacher in South Central LA made me write this play with humor, emotion and utter respect for all teachers. I'm so excited to share it.

They Call Me Mister Fry is currently directed by Jeff Michalski, Second City's ETC founding member and alumnus, and was selected Best of the Fest from the 2009 Washington Capital Fringe. In addition to They Call Me Mister Fry, Jack Freiberger has starred in various independent and educational films and has been seen on stage throughout the LA area. He trained at Meisner, The Shakespeare Company, and Adam Roake¹s Film Acting Lab. Creative consultants are Tom Blomquist, an award-winning television writer, producer and director, and Mitchel Uscher, author for Playbill Magazine and director of Forever Plaid at the Lycian Centre in New York. Josh Ravitz will serve as Associate Producer for all productions at Comic Strip Live Theater.

Comic Strip Live Theater seeks to bring in additional productions, including musicals, over the next few years and will receive submissions and inquiries in writing to Bob Wachs at Comic Strip Live (1568 Second Avenue, NY, NY 10028). All productions will be produced by the founders of Comic Strip Live, Richie Tienken and Bob Wachs, whose collaborations span over 30 years and include producing roles on several major Eddie Murphy hit movies. In addition, the producers are openly seeking TV and film outlets for all plays produced via Comic Strip Live Theater.
