Find Out How the IF/THEN Tour Hinged on Idina Menzel

IF/THEN was a new musical that hinged on Idina Menzel's star power and the amazing ensemble. When it opened on Broadway in 2014 it was one of the most buzzed about new musicals. Now, If/Then is taking that formula on the road in the first national tour, but according to an article published in Denver Centerstage, the tour might not have happened without leading lady Idina Menzel.

David Stone, the show's producer's stated, "If Idina didn't choose to launch the tour, then it wouldn't be touring. It's as simple as that." If/Then is one of the first modern Broadway musicals to go on tour and most of its original Broadway cast will be hitting the road as well. James Snyder, LaChanze and Anthony Rapp will also be joining Menzel.

Of course, Idina Menzel did decide to go on the road with If/Then and she says it's an extremely exciting idea. She told Denver Centerstage, "What's so exciting about this for me is that it is completely brand-new material," She went onto say, "But the best thing about If/Then is the people who are involved with this project. I'm smart enough to know to work with smart people."

Brian Yorkey, who wrote the book and lyrics and Tom Kitt, who wrote the music are also very excited about taking the prinicpal cast on the road. Yorkey told Denver Centerstage, "To me, it's absolutely essential that we have Idina and LaChanze and Anthony and James heading out for the first leg of the tour," He continued by saying, "because they are paving the way for the people who will follow. And they are showing the world once again that they believe in this kind of quirky, not-entirely-traditional new show of ours. To me, that means everything."

Tom Kitt has similar feelings. He said, "The fact that Idina is now doing this tour and bringing this story to Denver and beyond when she has a million things pulling her in all different directions...It just means a great deal."
