Variety is reporting that BSkyB's Sky Movies will officially co-finance the upcoming remake of Rock Horror Picture Show along with MTV. Under the deal, Sky Movies will exclusively play the movie before making it available on Sky Services and Sky Anytime.

As of right now no official release dates, cast, or director have been announced

The original film features Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick. The film is based on the British musical stage production The Rocky Horror Show.

The film is considered a cult classic and viewed as a midnight movie, although it is widely known by mainstream audiences and has a large international following. RHPS was the first movie from a major film studio — 20th Century Fox — in the midnight-movie market. The RHPS is one of the most well known and financially successful midnight movies. It is the longest running theatrical release in film history.

Timetable for the start of production hasn't been established yet but the partners aim to move forward quickly once the final elements are in place.
