LAGUNA BEACH, CA - The Festival of Arts board of directors appointed Laguna Beach resident and Festival artist Kathy Jones to an open board seat. Jones is filling a position on the board that was left open by Tammie Arnold who resigned and moved to New York due to a job opportunity. Jones will be completing the remaining year of Arnold's term.

"We are very sorry to lose Tammie from the board along with her considerable expertise, but very excited to have Kathy Jones to fill the vacancy," said Festival of Arts president Fred Sattler. "Kathy's diverse set of skills and exceptional track record of success will serve to further complement the Festival's broad range of board member expertise."

Born and raised in San Francisco, Jones holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University. She is currently a Principal of The Napa Group, which provides coaching and consulting for clients seeking organizational and performance improvement. She has over 20 years experience in the management of complex organizations. She has served as a member of the senior management team of two prestigious universities.

As Senior Vice President and Secretary of Georgetown University, Jones was responsible for facilitating the work of the Board of Trustees. She worked closely with the president and the senior administration on the development and implementation of strategies related to Georgetown's academic and research mission. Previously, she served as Vice Chancellor of University Relations at the University of California, Irvine. Her responsibilities there included overseeing UCI's fundraising and communications programs.

Jones began her successful career as a professional painter in 1995 and began exhibiting at the Festival of Arts in 2000. She taught art classes at Cairo American School in Cairo, Egypt and Laguna College of Arts & Design in Laguna Beach, California.

"I am delighted to be asked to serve on the Board of Directors of the Festival. It is both an honor and a privilege. I have great regard for everyone who makes the festival a possibility.... all of the volunteers in the pageant, my fellow artists, the incredible staff, and the dedicated members of the board. I am looking forward to working even more closely with everyone," commented Jones.

Completing the Festival's nine-member board, Jones joins board members president Fred Sattler, vice president David Perry, treasurer Anita Mangels, secretary Pat Kollenda, Wayne Baglin, Tom Lamb, Bob Moffett, and Ann Webster. Board members are elected for three-year terms by the Festival's Orange County membership. They volunteer their time, skills and collective leadership to determine policy and set the future direction of the Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters.
