Prominent Russian actor Alexei Devotchenko, 49, was found dead on Nov 6. Known for his outspoken criticism of Putin, the actors death in Moscow seems suspicious.
Variety reports that he was found in home in a pool of his own blood, but that Russian reports cannot agree whether he was found inside or outside. No cause of death has officially been declared by investigating police.
One official said, "There is reason to suppose that the artist's death is of a criminal character."
Devotchenko not only wrote anti-Putin blog posts saying, "I've had enough of all this tsar-state stuff, with its lies, its cover-ups, its legalised theft, its bribe-taking and its other triumphs," but he was also involved in opposition group United Civil Front. He participated in multiple demonstrations against Russian authorities.
Additionally, in 2011 he disowned the Russian acting awards he had received, saying he was ashamed of them coming from Putin and urged others in the entertainment industry to follow suit.
