Feral cat rescue group, Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats, hosted its 4th annual celebrity filled benefit concert, A CATbaret, presented by The World's Best Cat Litter, at the historic Belasco Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. The one-night only musical revue raised $45,000 for Kitty Bungalow's Humane Education program. The program will help raise a generation of responsible pet owners, while empowering youth to participate in TNR (trap, neuter, release). As animal advocated in their communities they will help create a more humane city for pets and people alike.
The evening featured stars of stage and screen performing popular cat-themed songs including Stray Cat Strut, Black Cat Bone, Year of the Cat, Jellicle Cats and more, all accompanied by live band. The star studded cast delighted guests with incredible performances by Billy Boyd (Lord of the Rings), Naturi Naughton (Power), Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas (Castle), Tia Carrere (True Lies), Jamie Ray Newman (Mind Games), Nicole Sullivan (Cougar Town), Maitland Ward (White Chicks) and more. So You Think You Can Dance dancers leapt across the stage and enchanted the audience with their cat-like grace dynamically choreographed by celebrity choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon, Benji Schwimmer, Ingrid Graham and Tara Nicole Hughes. Feline sensation Lil Bub charmed the guests with her flirty sweet purrs as she introduced the cats of the Bungalow via the live feed from Motorola Pet Cams.
After the show, guests enjoyed up close and personal moments with the celebrity cast at the Nature's Variety VIP after-party featuring delicious dessert by Real Food Daily, Border Grill and Semi Sweet and while drinking catcentric drinks like the 'catatonic' featuring Siku Vodka.
"We have so much fun producing this event! Each year it gets a bigger, we raise a little more, and it's incredibly exciting," said Shawn Simons, Headmistress, Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats and A CATbaret producer. "A CATbaret is a joyous way for us to raise awareness and funds so Kitty Bungalow can continue our mission of ending the proliferation of homeless cats in Los Angeles. We are dedicated to our city and its street cats and work tirelessly to rescue, neuter, socialize and find homes for our graduates, with the goal of a truly humane LA."
