The hit solo play Confessions of a Mormon Boy will come to Atlanta's 14th Street Playhouse (173 14th Street) direct from its acclaimed New York run with a limited 4-week engagement starting June 15th. Written by and starring Steven Fales, Confessions of a Mormon Boy is directed by Tony Award-winner Jack Hofsiss (The Elephant Man) and is presented in Atlanta by Joe Spotts.

Atlanta is the first stop for the show, following the show's successful 4-month engagement in New York at the Soho Playhouse, where it played a critically acclaimed run.

"Confessions of a Mormon Boy is Steven Fales' compelling and inspiring true story about how a young gay man went from being model Mormon Boy in a model Mormon family in Utah to a high priced call boy in New York City. His captivating tale takes audiences through his excommunication from the Mormon church, divorce, male prostitution and drug abuse, as he struggles to reclaim himself, his children and his 'Donny Osmond smile,'" state press notes.

A breakout hit during the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival -- for which the play received a coveted Overall Excellence Award -- Confessions of a Mormon Boy was performed prior to New York at theatres in San Diego (twice), San Francisco, Chicago, Salt Lake City (thrice), Miami, and the Connecticut Repertory Theatre.

Fales has appeared opposite Eden Espinosa in the musical Blood and Fire at the York Theatre, The Tempest at Judith Shakespeare Festival, and his stand up act, Oxy Mormon at Caroline's on Broadway, Stand Up New York and Don't Tell Mama. His regional theatre credits include Utah Shakespeare Festival, Connecticut Repertory, Robert Redford's Sundance Theatre, Stages St. Louis and others. His TV credits include the CBS mini series "Perfect Murder, Perfect Town," "Touched by an Angel" and "Miracles and Other Wonders."

The production features set and lighting design by Tim Saternow (Squonk) and costume design by Ellis Tillman (Urban Cowboy). The running time is 90 minutes with no intermission.

Confessions of a Mormon Boy is presented by Joe Spotts, who is based in Palm Springs and who was also responsible for bringing Atlanta the acclaimed solo play Like a Dog on Linoleum, starring Leslie Jordan, for 7 weeks in 2005 and again for return engagement of 13 weeks earlier this year.

The show will perform a limited 4-week run beginning June 15th through July 16th with performances Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00pm; and Sundays at 2:30pm, (there will be no performances Thursday June 29 through Sunday July 2) at the 14th Street Playhouse (173 14th Street.) in Atlanta, GA. Tickets are $35 - $55 and can be purchased by calling 404-733-5000 (press 5) or by visiting www.mormonboy.com or www.woodruffcenter.org.
