Faith Prince, Stephanie J. Block & More Will Star in THE COCKTAIL PARTY EFFECT Reading

Producer John Yonover (Revonoy Productions) is presenting a private industry reading of a new comedy, The Cocktail Party Effect by Scooter Pietsch, on Friday April 8 at 2 PM in the Anne L. Bernstein Theater at The Theater Center at 210 West 50th Street in New York.

The play tells the story of three married couples who gather to celebrate their 10th New Year's Eve together. They originally met at the private school their kids attended and have celebrated all the milestones of childrearing as a group.Tonight, however, marks a new phase of life for them as their kids have gone off to college leaving them empty nesters. How the couples handle being alone together, after being distracted from their marriages while raising a family, sets the stage for brutally honest (and hilarious) evaluations, self-reflections and dramatic resolutions.

The Cocktail Party Effect takes a look at what happens to us all after we're "fired" from the greatest job we've ever had... raising our children.

The cast includes Tony winner Faith Prince (Guys and Dolls, Disaster! The Musical) Tony nominee Stephanie J. Block (The Mystery Of Edwin Drood, Anything Goes), Arnie Burton (The 39 Steps, Peter and the Starcatcher), Aaron Krohn (Cabaret, The Farnsworth Invention, The Coast of Utopia), Keira Naughton (These Paper Bullets!, The Rivals) and Peter Rini (Orange Is The New Black, A View from the Bridge).

Scooter Pietsch (pronounced Peach) is a playwright, Emmy-nominated composer/songwriter and TV producer. He wrote his first play, Drawing Straws in 2010, which was immediately optioned after a New York reading. Since then, two more plays have been optioned for production as well: Windfall and Heel. Windfall, directed by Jason Alexander, opens at The Arkansas Repertory Theater on June 10, 2016. Scooter has served as dramaturg for the past two productions of Dee Snider's Rock and Roll Christmas Tale at the Broadway Playhouse in Chicago and at the Winter Garden Theater in Toronto. Readings of his plays have included performances by Tony winner and four-time Emmy winner Bryan Cranston, Tony winner Cady Huffman, Nancy Travis, Constance Zimmer, Jennifer Morrison, Jerry O'Connell and many others. He is currently writing his first musical. As a composer, Scooter's music has appeared in thousands of television episodes and many movies including Pretty Little Liars, Burn Notice, All Dogs Go To Heaven, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. He has also created and executive produced shows for ABC, FOX, Lifetime, VH1 and E!.
