Faith Prince has won the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for her role as Ms. Adelaide in the critically-acclaimed revival of "Guys and Dolls." Tonight, Prince will present "Total Faith," a one-night only concert at Northwestern University.
The concert will feature the songs of some of America's greatest composers, including Harold Arlen, Menken and Ashman, Stephen Sondheim, Kander and Ebb, Rodgers and Hart and Jerry Herman. "Total Faith" reflects this Southern Belle's past and present with a glimpse into the future.
Prince's program will take place at 7 p.m. at Cahn Auditorium, 600 Emerson St., on the Evanston campus. It is co-presented by The American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) and Theatre and Interpretation Center (TIC) at Northwestern University.
Prince has enjoyed a wide-ranging career not only on Broadway but also in film and television. A nominee for Tony, Drama Desk (DD) and Outer Critics Circle (OCC) awards for "A Catered Affair," her Broadway credits include "The Little Mermaid," "Bells Are Ringing," "Nick & Nora" (OCC Award), "Jerome Robbins' Broadway" (Tony, DD nominations) and "Noises Off." Most recently, she starred in the national tour of the Broadway hit "Billy Elliot." On television, Prince appears on Lifetime's hit series "Drop Dead Diva." Prince also is known to television audiences as the lovable but quirky love interest of Oliver Platt in Showtime's "Huff" and she has made recurring appearances for five seasons on "Spin City."
"Ms. Prince is one of music theatre's most talented artists," said AMTP Producing Director Heather Schmucker. "Giving our students and the public a chance to see her amazing gifts is a great privilege."
While at Northwestern, Prince will give a three-hour master class for Northwestern students tomorrow, Dec. 4. Called "Shooting for the Moon - Broadway and Beyond," it is designed to give students an opportunity to share their work, receive feedback and discuss all aspects of life and work in the theatre. Prince will be joined by musical director and conductor Alex Rybeck and Broadway performer and vocal coach Roz Kerins.
"Total Faith" tickets for the general public are $40, and $30 for TIC subscribers and Northwestern faculty and staff; a limited number of $10 tickets are available to full-time students with valid IDs. Tickets may be purchased now through the TIC Box office at (847) 491-7282 or www.tic.northwestern.edu.
