To star in FX's newest show, apparently you have to be a Broadway veteran.

FX announced today at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour that their newest series, COMEDIANS will make its television debut on April 5, 2015. Led by Tony Award-winner Billy Crystal and Tony nominee Josh Gad, THE COMEDIANS will have 8 episodes, with air times set for 10pm ET.

Larry Charles and Ben Wexler will serve as writers/executive producers of the show, alongside Crystal, with Josh Gad as co-executive producer. The pilot was directed by Larry Charles.

Billy Crystal plays a comedy legend who is reluctantly paired with Josh Gad, an edgier up-and-coming star, in an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes look at a fictional late night sketch comedy show where egos and generations collide. Stephnie Weir stars as 'Kristen Laybourne,' the anxiety-ridden producer behind The Billy & Josh Show who frequently finds herself caught in the middle of Billy and Josh's arguments, Matt Oberg stars as 'Mitch Reed,' the show's head writer, and Megan Ferguson stars 'Esme McCauley,' a no-nonsense production assistant.
