A staged reading of FUKT by Emma Goldman-Sherman, directed by Janice L. Goldberg, will be presented as a work in progress at Dixon Place, Saturday, November 17, at 10pm on the Main Stage.
In FUKT, 3 women tell an oddly uplifting personal tale of incest, murder & private parts! What starts off as Emma's very own one-woman show gets busted into by Barbara and Bobbie. They refuse to let Emma control the narrative trying to out-tell each other their dark history and deeply stored demons. An immersive and fearless journey to bare all, for anyone with a secret.*
The cast features Karen Eleanor Wight (THE SCREWTAPE LETTERs), IRNE-nominated actress Andrea Goldman (United Solo Festival / FROM THE HEARTLAND OF NAUSEA) and Kelsea Feder (TAMAR, the Two Gated City). Wight, Goldman and Feder play the roles of Emma, Barbara and Bobbie--the same woman with different names at different times of her life.
Director Janice L. Goldberg is the Artistic Co-Director of ANDTheatre Company and Kennedy Center Gold Medallion Awardee for her work with new plays. She recently directed I OF THE STORM, which premiered last fall at The Gym at Judson.
Award-winning playwright Emma Goldman-Sherman writes about female experience whether or not anyone believes her. Her work has been produced at Dixon Place, New Ohio, WP Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Source, Golden Thread, EST-LA, Canal Cafe Theatre, and others.
FUKT has received early development support of the 29th Street Playwrights Collective, dedicated to presenting new works for stage written by mature emerging playwrights and to promoting gender parity in Theatre.
